Pamela’s love for design started at the early age of 12, when she came home from school to find that her mother and an interior decorator had transformed the family living room. The only thing she remembers thinking was, “our house is beautiful.” Through years filled with Sunday drives to look at homes and youthful adventures in Europe, Pamela grew to love architecture and décor. By the age of 21, she’d already lived in Italy and France — both life-changing experiences that enriched her approach to design. After training with a well-known Manhattan designer and author of design books, studying at the Harvard Graduate School of Design and completing a home building course, Pamela followed her passion by opening her own design company in 1999.
As the Principal Designer at Pamela Hope Designs, Pamela loves providing creative solutions to a variety of residential and commercial clients. She has completed projects throughout the Houston area as well as in Dallas, Fort Worth and the Texas Hill Country. She has clients in Vienna, Virginia; Portland, Maine; Ogden, Utah; Santa Fe, New Mexico and Palo Alto, California. Over the years, Pamela and her design team have also worked for commercial clients like Bellows Construction, Jones Oil Company, Tradition Bank, Allergy and Asthma Associates, Cricket Communications, Dean & Draper Insurance Agency and Jansen International, LLC. Tradition Bank Plaza, the adaptive reuse of the former Plaza Hotel, won a good brick award from Preservation Houston.
As an award-winning designer on both national and local levels, Pamela’s work has most recently been featured in House Beautiful, Houston House & Home and Bayou City Magazines. She is a member of the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID), the Greater Houston Builders Association and the National Speaker’s Association. She lives in Houston with her husband, Jon, their Whippet, Aston Martin and a black cat who answers occasionally to the name of Bartholomew. When not designing, Pamela enjoys yoga, food, wine and travel.
